Mr. Philadelphia Leather 2008 Scott Mallinger, who also goes by the name of Scott Daddy, is the former publisher and editor of the LGBT newsweekly, Au Courant.  He began his involvement in the queer community with a column, “Coming Out Diary,” which chronicled the many stages and phases of his coming out process.  He has written for local publications as well as national magazines such as “Advocate” and “Instinct,” on topics as wide-ranging as why gay men have unprotected sex to what goes on at penis vacuum pumping parties.

His wedding announcement in 1994 was the first same-sex announcement to be run in the Philadelphia Inquirer.   After 10 years of marriage, this self-identified leather Daddy expanded the relationship with his husband into a triad with the inclusion of a fulltime leather ‘boy,’ eryc.

For the past two years, he's been continuing his writing tradition with Leather Bound, a series of articles about his personal experiences in the leather community, exploring leather identity and roles, techniques and protocols, and personal growth within the context of the leather experience.  The Leather Bound podcast was selected by itunes as one of the "new and notable" casts in recent months.

Affectionately referred to as a GDI (goddamned independent) by leather clubs, Scott enjoys participating in educational and fundraising community events such as the Kinky Karnival, where he performs violet wand demonstrations on neophytes and veterans alike.  And, yes, he does have a hard spot for veterans.
